Hardware and Event Interface Boards (HEIB)
This is a single board in the system that computes the events in the game and either provides the information to a higher computing device (i.e. a Raspberry Pi or PC) via a USB interface, or controls the game itself (in case higher computing power is not needed).
This device controls the RESCO units via I2C. The board is governed by an Arduino Mega and I2C communication is implemented via RJ45 connectors. The RESCOs are connected to the unit on a daisy chain configuration. Additionally it provides seven 8-pin input/output ports that can be connected to distribution boards using RJ45 patch cables.
